Gelato Project is evolving: for years, it was a constantly evolving digital book, updated over time with new recipes, new ideas, and new content. Now that journey continues, but within a platform designed to be much more user-friendly.
I didn’t just want to “put the book online.” The goal is to build a navigable digital library where it’s easier to find a recipe, where the guides are more accessible, and where updates can be delivered more seamlessly than with the old PDF format.
The new platform includes balanced recipes, technical guides, signature recipes, editorial stories, free and premium content, search filters, recipe scaling where available, and a structure designed to grow over time.
Not everything will be perfect from day one, and I already know that. But that’s exactly the point: Gelato Project has always been a work in progress. Before, it improved through updates to the book. Now it will be able to improve more quickly thanks to the platform, feedback, and a more direct dialogue with the people who actually use it.
The Launch Phases
The launch will be phased, so that we can first support those who have already backed the project and then gradually open the platform to everyone.
Phase 1, Friday, August 7
The first phase will be reserved for beta testers and For Life users.
Beta testers will be the first to gain access to the platform and will also receive a small gift for contributing feedback, testing, and reporting issues during the development phase.
For Life users, on the other hand, will have permanent access. To me, they are a special part of Gelato Project’s history: they supported the project even before it became a platform, and their access will be recognized accordingly.
Phase 2, Friday, August 14
The second phase will focus on active customers and customers whose accounts are past due.
Active customers will receive access to the platform with the same expiration date as their current access. They don’t need to do anything—they will receive an email with instructions on how to log in.
Customers whose subscriptions have expired will instead receive Explorer access with 15 credits, allowing them to log back into the platform, explore the content, and unlock some premium recipes.
Through the end of August, you can also switch to the annual plan at the introductory price.
Phase 3, Friday, August 21
The platform will open to the public on August 21.
From that moment on, anyone will be able to sign up, and Gelato Project will officially go live.
What’s happening with the book *Gelato Project*?
Starting August 7, the book will no longer be available for purchase by new customers.
The product page will be converted into a landing page leading to the new platform and the waitlist. It wouldn’t make sense to continue selling the old format just as Gelato Project is evolving into something more comprehensive, easier to navigate, and better suited for future updates.
Existing customers will still retain access to the download area until their subscription expires, but the book will no longer be updated.
If you recently purchased Gelato Project and haven’t seen any new updates to the book yet, here’s why: the work hasn’t stopped, it’s just moved to the platform. Your access will be transferred to the new system, and updates will resume there, in a format that’s much easier to use and develop.
Why a platform?
The PDF played an important role, but it also had obvious limitations.
As the catalog grows, it becomes harder to find a recipe. As the number of versions increases, managing updates becomes less straightforward. When new ideas come up, you need a format that lets you add them without having to rebuild the entire book every time.
That’s why the platform was created.
It lets you search, filter, browse by category, read guides and stories, access free or premium content, and make Gelato Project feel more like a living library than a static document.
Above all, it helps speed up the feedback loop.
If something isn’t working, if a recipe is missing, if a step isn’t clear, or if a new idea comes up, it will be much easier to gather feedback and turn it into a concrete improvement.
What should existing customers do?
Nothing yet. If you’re already a customer, you’ll receive an email when it’s your turn to log in. You’ll use the same login credentials you used to download the book, although you’ll need to reset your password.
During the first two phases, access will be by invitation only. Public registration will begin in the third phase.
Gelato Project is evolving, but its spirit remains the same: to continue building a valuable space for those who want to understand, make, and explore artisanal gelato.
This new platform isn’t the end goal. It’s a new starting point!
I recently purchased Gelato Project. Do I need to purchase the platform again?
No. If you’re already a Gelato Project customer, you’ll receive access to the new platform according to the rollout schedule.
You won’t have to start from scratch. You’ll receive an email with instructions on how to log in and use the new system.
My subscription expires right around the time of the launch. Will I lose access?
No, the goal is to avoid penalizing those who have had an active account during this transition phase.
If your account is active or has recently expired, you will still receive an email with instructions. Active customers will log in with their current subscription, while expired accounts will receive Explorer access with credits to explore the platform and unlock some premium recipes.
The book was last updated at the end of May. What happens during the months when there are no updates?
Over the past few months, work hasn’t stopped—it’s just shifted almost entirely to the platform.
I do understand the concern, though, especially for those who recently purchased or renewed their subscription expecting updates to the book. That’s precisely why the transition to the platform will be handled gradually: existing customers will gain access to the new system, and former customers will receive credits to rejoin, explore, and unlock premium content.
From now on, updates will resume on the platform, in a format that’s easier to navigate and much simpler to update.
When will the Gelato Project be up and running again?
The rollout will be phased:
August 7, 2026: Beta Testers and For Life Users
August 14, 2026: Active customers and expired customers
August 21, 2026: Open to the public

What’s different from the PDF version of the book?
The main difference is that Gelato Project is now navigable.
It will no longer be just a file to download and browse page by page, but a platform featuring search, filters, organized recipes, technical guides, editorial stories, Signature Recipes, and premium content.
The goal is to make it easier to find what you need, revisit recipes, explore by category, and receive updates more seamlessly. There will also be several features that will gradually allow us to integrate all of CucinaLi’s gelato tools into a single platform.
Will I still be able to download the book?
If you are already a customer, the download area will remain accessible until your subscription expires.
Starting August 7, however, the book will no longer be available for purchase by new customers: the new point of access will be the Gelato Project platform.
I’m a For Life user. What changes for me?
For Life users will receive permanent access to the Gelato Project platform.
To me, you are a special part of the project’s history because you supported it before this evolution. Your access will therefore be migrated to the new system at no additional cost.
I’m a former customer. Can I try out the new platform?
Yes. Customers whose subscriptions have expired will receive Explorer access with 15 credits.
You can use them to log in to the platform, browse the catalog, and unlock some premium recipes. If you’d like to continue, you can upgrade to the annual plan at the introductory price through the end of August.
